It would be nice if we had a "last edited" or "last updated" information automactically posted at the bottom of all articles we do.

Also, I think you planned on adding this sooner or later, but how about a "print", "e-mail", "report to moderator" link or image in articles.

I agree and I also disagree. Articles as articles yes, seems logical, but stripping them down and using them as static pages is another way that they are used.

So, yes let articles have the additional facilities as Xarcel suggests, but also create a new category of static page, essentially a stripped down article, leaving only the icon and title for use as a static page, authorÃ,  maybe a text box, that can have info or left blank, as a footnote. No date, no submission set up.

Maybe for both an option to select the icon, in the way that the download manager one works, a dynamic array based on the names of the folder icons.

Actually, I think that perhaps the best way would be to have it setup in a fully modular manner.... 

Take each bit of information that somebody wanted, and make it into an option. This would require a restructuring of the articles table, and a reworking of the code for a number of pages, but it is possible.

The optional features could then include:

• Header icon (include or not, or even select from list)
• Title+Frame/Title Only/No Title Bar, No Frame/No Title at all, No Frame

  • Author (top)
  • Main Body
  • Frontpage Snippet
  • Last Edited line
  • Printer Friendly button
  • Report to Moderator
  • Post Comment - for those who want to setup as Blog - but this would require an additional Table just for this purpose
  
  As I mentioned above, this would, at a bare minimum require that several fields be added to the Articles table (and the inclusion of a new table altogether to set up blog functionality). It would also require majode code changes to look for all the new fields and build the pages/block accordingly.
