I had a fresh install of smf 1.1.4 and it went on smoothly... works fine. But when i installed Tiny Portal v0.9.8 it won't open anymore. All i have is an error saying

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: html_entity_decode() in c:\phpdev\www\smf\Sources\TPortal.php on line 3091

I tried searching for topics similar to my problem but to no avail. I need it really bad. Help please. Thank You!

BTW I installed tiny portal thru the package manager and encountered no errors.

You can compare the files edited by the installation of TinyPortal by following the Manual Installation Guide here:
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=14230

You can also download an automatic backup of your forum created by the Package Manager.
Every time a Package is installed via the SMF Package Manager, the forum creates a backup.

You can download this backup from this location and it should look something like:

/Packages/backups/2007-03-18_before_TP_0983.tar.gz

This is an example from my server.

If all else fails, you can download this file, un-zip it and upload the contents to your server using an FTP file transfer program. This will restore your site prior to the installation of TP.

Then you can try installing fresh, or a Manual install if needed.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I restarted installing TP again- this time i did it manually. Unfortunately now I got this other error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: html_entity_decode() in c:\phpdev\www\smf\Sources\TPortal.php on line 1031

Need help please.

It's not actually a TP error, more a server and host issue.
The PHP version on your server you have is eather missconfigurated or simply to old

Wow thanks! It was indeed the php. Kudos to the brilliant minds here in TP.
