I have TP installed on 3 of my 5 websites. I am now wanting to install it on my LARGEST SMF website with a membership of over 5500 members, but until I get the Front Page figured out, set up and articles written, I don't want it to show.

Is there ANYWAY to do this?

I have a dummy site available to me if that helps any, like setting it up there and possibly moving some files over...if that is even possible.

Thanks for any insights, tips or help.

I'm not sure how you would go about that.. all block and article information is stored in the database.. so, not only will you need to simply copy files.. but database entries too.

I understand where you are coming from.

I've just moved to a new MySpace page from an old page.. added all our friends again.. and have lost about 200 friends in the process.
For the information, blogs that were on our old page.. I had to just copy/paste the blogs into new blogs.

I'm not the most knowledgeable member of the team around databases.. and maybe theres an easy answer that one of the team can give you.

Just turn the blocks off. You can then work on them and just make/turn them on one at a time to test them.

you could set up a developement site and copy all the current data over. get everything set up exactly how you want it. then update the database with only the article data and if you changed any files, update those.

dont replace the user table or post/topic/board tables.

not sure if you understand or not, a little confusing?

I think the suggestion of having the blocks only visible to Admin is a good one.. it's something I guess most of us do on our own sites when trying out a new snippet, I do. Same for Articles.. you can write them, and release them later.

Maybe put the site in Maint mode.. install TP and then continue developing the TP content.. each block has it's own permissions for member groups.

Manage Settings->Front Page

Select Go Directly to Forum Index.

This will let you have the software installed and like others said you can build your articles on your dummy page and then just copy them over at your convenience as well as have left and right blocks in the mean time.
