Viewing Blocks on Front page

I am having issues trying to get to see a list of recent articles on the front page of my website.

I have created a block on the front page (article category) but it doesn't show up.  I have made the "Welcome Article" display intro and that didn't change anything either.

What I want to do is to have a front page with an intro to the featured article and then under it a list of the last 3-5 most recent articles regardless of their category.

Why cant I see the block on the front page?
Can I limit it to show only the x most recent articles (regardless of category)?

Did you switch the block on after you created it?
The red and green indicators in the block index page.

A featurd article will always show on top possision if you have the forum set to show articles.
If youwant to shopw both articles and blocks on the frontpage, you will have to check the catbox so your frontpage show both blocks and articles.
The recent posts are made thaty way you want, they list them regardles from where they have been posted, but are checked for the membergroup permissions. So admin see all posts made, but a member with restricted access will only show what that membergroup is allowed to see in the forum.

I have set my front page block to include a article category box and set the front page to Featured Article and Front Page block. The block is turned on but it is not visible.

The attached image is the bottom of the front page showing the end of the default welcome article but it doesn;t show the article cat box

I changed the setting to Front Page Blocks (to see if I had those settings right) and the article cat box only shows titles and author.  Is there a way of changing that to show the Introduction for the article and limit to showing only the most recent 5-10 articles (not posts).

My cunning plan is to have an intro to the Featured Article at the top of the Front page and below it a list of 5 - 10 other articles from various categories showing their introductions.

Is this possible or am I trying to do too much.

I have kind of back doored this so we can consider it closed.  I turned off the featured article and put some article boxes on the front page instead - mind you I have a new problem.

Seems to me you really need to play around in tinyportal and learn the way through the settings and how to use it.
The docsection holds some of the info you need, and also a reminder that tp is a beta software, some issues are there, and also posted in the forum, so a search from your side on your issues will help you, and we dont have to see every little question from you posted when we know the answers is posted more then one time in the forum.
