Hi All.ÂÃ,  I'm very new to SMF (1 day) and everything related to it.

As of last night, I installed (on a Win2k box) :

Apache 2.0.54
Perl 5.8.7
PHP 5.0.5
MySQL 4.1.14
phpMyAdmin 2.6.4-pl1

Apache, php, mysql, and phpmyadmin are all running fine. (never tried perl as yet - just there cause I used to code perl)

Installed SMF 1.1 Release Candidate 1
next .. Bible BBC Tag (the only rogue item here that I can see - but should be harmless)
next .. TinyPortal v0.7.5 releas_update
via .. PackMngr - Tinyportal0_75.zip

Install went great, no errors.ÂÃ,  Closed explorer and reopened.ÂÃ,  Went to site, and was all blank.
Figured out problem to be same one spoken about (files created with 0 bytes)
Reinstalled files via .. TP_075_files_only.zip .. copied directly over the '0'd files.
Page loaded afterward, but with some content missing? (is current problem - w/explain below)
Checked SMF database Via .. tp_install_manual.php .. all was already there - no problems.
Checked SMF database Via phpMyAdmin .. all looks fine ..ÂÃ,  structure etc.

Attempt to backtrack problem via IE's html source code.ÂÃ,  Last line was:
<a href="http://127.0.0.1/assembly/forum/index.php?action=who"><b>Users Online</b></a><br />
..traced to server side include as closest thing to examine.

Rechecked setup in httpd.conf, php.ini, my.ini ..
.. as per the SMF 1.1 RC1 Installation Guide (../forum/readme.html)
at that point, I did not have the following installed :
.. the GNU Aspell and its dictionaries for spell checking support.
.. Apache with AcceptPathInfo set to On (Apache 2 and later only) for queryless URL support.
Added AcceptPathInfo to the existing directory in httpd.conf
<Directory />
   AcceptPathInfo On
</Directory>

Rechecked forum via http:// ... no change (screenshots below to assist :) )

Again attempted to backtrack problem via html source code (html line above).
.. seems to terminate upon ssi call .. looked into more SMF/TP ssi.
Found ../forum/ssi_examples.php .. Accessed via http:// .. SSI calls successful .. until :

Who's Online Function (screenshot below as well to show ssi_examples.php termination point)

Coincidence that the ssi_examples.php's ssi call to the -- function ssi_whosOnline() -- terminates the page
..ÂÃ,  and
the file (../forum/Themes/default/TPortalBlocks.template.php) that calls -- $online = ssi_whosOnline -- terminates the page
.. on my forum

? .. I'd think not.. but alas I'm at some crossroads.ÂÃ,  Which brings me here.

Would greatly appreciate some help with the above.

Thank you very much...

Update to the above..  I was just clicking everything onscreen.  After 2-3 clicks on 'logout' .. the page popped up.  Not sure if it's quite right though.  The bar (as in photo) on the left and all the leftside content is gone.  When I go and login again (admin accnt) it goes back to how explained before.  So I can't change anything or do anything as admin :( ..

I know PHP 5 have some issues in recent SMF installations...how about uploading latest 1.1RC1 of SMF again and do upgrade.php? TP will be gone(not database tables/data though), but at least you can see if its possible to get in again. If it is, try TP first and check, then other mods.

You could also try the just out SMF 1.1RC2, but TP does not install on it - yet.

Getting there ...

D/led smf_1-1-rc1_upgradeÂÃ,  (which I had to manually change in the address bar from rc2 now - as rc2 has replaced rc1 on the download section on smf website :( .. get em while ya can folks :) )

Copied files over.. ran upgrade.php.
Forum returned to standard... all was good.
Installed Tinyportal0_75 .. via Package Mng. .. installed well.. no errors/ problems.
TP files were all 0'd out again.. so copied over new ones from TP_075_files_only.

Went to forum.. asÂÃ,  a guest.. all is well.. no problems, looks good, can see 'recent', 'shoutbox' and 'testblock' on the right hand side now, which couldn't before.

But.. when I login as admin, I lose the right block and the center block.ÂÃ,  Goes back to how was before (screenshots).ÂÃ,  The 'toggle graphic' to toggle the rightbar on and off.. if you play around with it and other keys, it'll disappear.. but for the rest of it, it doesn't matter what you click and press.. it all looks like the screenshot I u/led.

Am sure that the problem is in
function ssi_whosOnline($output_method = 'echo')
.. somewhere.  While not logged in, the function operates fine.  But as soon as I login, the page displays, until data is sent to this function .. for the unknown reason as yet.. it gets hungup in there, and does not return from the function.

Hmmm..

..updating.

Problem is somewhere in ssi_whosOnline.. commented out the function call :
//$online = ssi_whosOnline('array');
in the TPortalBlocks.template.php file.ÂÃ,  Runs fine now (without the online user info though :( )

Anyone had a problem with that function while not on as a guest ?

Bloc, php 5 works fine with sms 1.1 rc1 and TP 0.75 .. no problems.
only xmlparser must change from utf8 to iso for german sites.
