Read this thread again mrdr. There doesn't need to be 2 different folders. The names are the same because they need to be in the same folder.

ok, i finally done that :)
but now i can't login and when i try to click on certain board on forum i get the error "unable to load 'main' template" ?

You have more problems each time you try something. You need to restore to a backup and start over IMO.

IMO = In my opinion

Download the install package from simplemachines.org
Extract the files to your local computer.
REMOVE the settings.php and the settings_bak.php from the files.
UPLOAD them manually to where you have your forum setup on your host and choose to OVERWRITE all the files.
Refresh the site when all the files are uploaded. That will bring your forum back to default.

When you are there, you use eather the full TP package and install it through your package manager, OR the manual install package.
Follow the descriptions Shadow gave you and the one i linked to.

I got this error when i try to install tp through package manager on a clean install smf.
i persume that problem is server's configuration but i don't know where exactly...

If you have problems after a clean install you should head to simplemachines.org and ask your questions there.
