Is there a way to deny external contributors to edit their articles?

When someone submit an article, the administrator can revise it before publishing. This is fine to keep control on the site content, but I realized that once an article is approved, its author can easily go back to it, change anything he wants and put it online without any control by the administrator!!!
Help!! One of our contributors has messed up a report that was already carefully and patiently revised...  :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

2 Questions:
- is there a way to get back the former revised article?
- is there a way to block our contributors from modify their articles?

Hope someone can help! Thanks.

This is just one of these things we have been discussing in the admin board we have.

In the permissions you should be able to set the members from just submit the article, and not edit them, so check there.

For getting an article back if it have been changed is only possible if you have a backup you can go back to, but that will not only cjange the article, but all things that have happend since you made the backup.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Sorry I didn't see any way to set the members from just submit the articles, and not edit them, in the Permissions section.

Only in the "Article Manager", under "Submissions" I can choose which group is allowed to submit... that's all!

...did I miss something?

In Admin/Members/permissions you have the TP settings when you choose the mebergroup you want to edit.

Manage Settings
Manage Blocks
Manage Articles <-- this one is where you block or accept that membergroup if they can edit the articles or not

Just to make sure we are talking of the same thing  ::)
here's what I get on "Manage Articles"

As you can see, I can only allow groups TO SUBMIT, and not block or accept TO EDIT articles.

I'm using SMF 113 and TP 098
Thanks

Lets try this again.
Admin/Members/permissions

The same place you set up your forums permissions for your member groups

bobzr

thanks again
sorry I checked again millions times... no way!
on Admin/Members/permissions I can only grant access to articles management, meaning total control of ALL articles, no options.

Keeping control on the site content is very important and I hope that a solution to this issue will be implemented soon on tp.
Thanks in advance!!

Its certainly planned bobzr. We are still beta with a long way to go until TP 1.0 is ready for beta testing.

bobzr

hope the way to TP 1 won't be that long!! I love tp and I think there must be great geniuses among the developers team.
....talking about genius,, here are my 3 wishes  ::)

- the possibility to allow or deny editing articles posted by external contributors.

- Be notified if a change is made in articles and of course the possibility to deny that modification.

- It would be also very very nice if the administrator could be notified on new comments posted on articles.

Thanks.

All 3 are options that are highly usable. I hope to impment all of them actually.
