front page news' "read more" link

currently i have it set in TP admin to show forum only in the front page.

however, i realize that when a stickied topic goes to the front page it gets a "read more..." link on the bottom left.

normal non-stickied topics, however, do not get that link even though the post is over the max amount of characters.

is there a way to have LAL my posts in the fornt page to have a "Read more..." link to them (even though they are non-stickied)?

They should not be any different whether they are stickied or not. The counting of characters also count BBC codes, that might explain it.

As for changing readmore..I might do that, but the title already takes you to the topic...although it may not be as obvious of course.

I can see the need for reading the comments though, if there are any..making ("x comment") a link and maybe making it say "show 2 comments"..but if you read the whole post, why do you need a read-more? It should only show when there is actually more to read in the post IMO.

I guess I have to agree with resurgence on this one.
I have been looking as to the reason one post has the "Read More" link on the bottom and the next did not, both posts far beyond the max amount of characters,being a sticky post does not seem to be the trigger that places this link on the front page.

I see the reason for this as being some people just do not see the correlation of the * Write Comment( 0 Comments) and finding a way to continue reading the article that is listed. Even though as you say the title itself is a link to the post.
* Write Comment( 0 Comments) just does not say to me read the rest of the article...

If there are 0 comments, you will not find anymore to read actually... But I will add "read more" link - if there are more than 0.

Bloc, hope you do not feel I was being "difficult" 

I work with computer "users" everyday, and if you do not, you really would not understand how low the level of basic understanding is for some people...

No, thats ok. I am always open to suggestions, this was more of pointing out things..but user-friendliness is always important to consider.

This forum is of ourse with mostly experienced people, that know what mysql and beta means..but i run and administrate 2 other forums with mostly "non-computer" people, and if something seem confusing - it will be questions no matter what help i set up...So better make it not-confusing right away.
