Members list/data cannot be displayed

In the TP 0.98 + SMF 1.1.3 combo I set up recenly since a couple of days the Member's list can be displayed from Amin "Manage members" but their profile data sheets cannot be dislayed neither in Registered User nor in Admin mode.

New members can register, the e-mail notification is sent to me, however, the link to the new Member's profiles data does not work in the e-mail, eiher.

Clicking on the e-mail link or on "Members" menu item or individual member nicknames in the Members list throws up a blank page in the same window/tab; in Firefox the link can be seen in the tab.

The structure of the link is the following:

http://path/index.php?action=profile;u=xx

where "u=xx" is the Member number

Is there any way to convince the system to display the user profiles?
