I try to install TinyPortal from the SMF 1.1.3 package installation and when I do, it appears to be installing and then goes to a screen that lists the successes, but at the bottom it says: UTF-8 Settings found. Table could not be updated. I changed the SMF language to "English." After this attempt at installation, the SMF admin panel looks the same as usual.

So, what is the problem????
Thanks,  Bill

Thanks. Yes I have read those and many other threads but it is not clear to me what the problem is. I did change the language to English and it didn't make any difference. I did not install from a cpanel, just the package manager on SMF 1.1.3. What is the UTF-8 /"table could not be updated" actually telling me if I have the SMF in English? Is there another area I need to change the language in? Also, I'm assuming others have installed the TinyPortal 0.9.8 with SMF 1.1.3 without any problems????

I could have a cockpit error since this is my first try at doing this ........?
Thanks, Bill

If you run the forum on utf8 you have to download that TP language package separatly from the download section and extract the file and manually add them to your default/languages/folder with the rest of the files.

Then if you download the file called "manual_tp_install" Database only and upload that to your forum root directory (folder where the forum is installed) and point the browser to it, it will update the DB only.
Try those 2 steps and see if it help you.

I have the forum running on "English," based on some threads I read. You're saying I should go back to using the utf8, and do the things you suggested??
Thanks again, Bill

What does it say in Admin/Settings/ServerSettings ? What language have you checked there for the forum ?

Yaxley

Admin/configuration/server settings/...default forum language set to "English"       It was originally the utf8, but I changed it to "English"

Oh, and from the file manager in the cpanel it looks like the files for TinyPortal are there in the forum folder.

Can yu send me a temp admin account in PM so i can have a look ?
