It might have to do with other reported posts here - about globals changing in php 5. I haven't quite figured it out why and how yet.

Found this

QuoteHowever, today when I ran PHP 5.0-dev to see how my script working, I
found the $HTTP_SERVER_VAR['something'] did not working at all whereas
$_SERVER['something'] wroks fine.

ALSO

QuoteSummary  $HTTP_SERVER_VAR no longer works with php 5.04.
Description  The following line

$opts['language'] = $_HTTP_SERVER_VARS['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'];

that is generated by phpMyEdit setup does not work with php 5.04 on Fedora 4. I read on the net that $_HTTP_SERVER_VARS is deprecated. I appears that they have stopped supporting it.
Steps To Reproduce  Use any file created by phpMyEdit.setup.class
Additional Information / Solution  Use $_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'] instead.
