What am I missing?

I've got my own hometown community website for Crystal Lake, Illinois. It's using Bloc's Novelty theme, which I like. EZ on the eyes.  I've not got much traffic yet, in a town of 30,000. That's OK, because I need to make it really, really cool - interesting for the average suburban homeowner or student, to make them proud of their home town. It's NOT an official governmental site; it's my own--for open opinions, and such.

So, if you would add ONE TP FUNCTION to my site to improve it, what would it be? I need some direction from people who have "been there" and know the functions of TP & SMF better than I do (I'm still a beginner).

Thank you so much, -John

One thing I see that may look a little better is in the rules board have a sticky topic with the rules in it.  Not the rules in the board description.  Thats just my opinion.  Also I agree with G6 on a gallery would be a nice addition to the site.  Looks good so far.

G6 - How do I get the Gallery going? Is that a photo gallery? Is tehre a good place to see an example of the Gallery Module?

And what is "Arcade?"

Tick,

I changed the board, and stickied stuff as you suggested. Thanks.

The gallery is a mod you can download from smf.  And that looks a lot better.  I think you will have a nice place there.

One other thing if you do decide to get the gallery or any other mods.  Make sure you set the forum to the core default before installing mods.  Just a little tip in case you didnt know.  Good luck.

I started futzing with things, and screwed up my core, so having to re-install. Bummer.

Learning is such fun.   Thanks for the heads-up on Gallery!

It is always best to leave the forum core default as unmodified as possible.  If you want to play around with that them you can make a copy of it via the theme manager.  Hope this helps

Thanks. I think I pulled out of my nosedive. This stuff isn't as intuitive as one would think - for us non-coders out there.
