I currently have Tinyportal 0.97 installed on a SMF 1.1.2 site with no other mods installed. I am trying to upgrade to Tinyportal 0.983 via the package manager, but the script appears to time out after about 1 second and I get a "Lost network connection" error in Safari, a "Cannot display page" error in IE, or a prompt to download index.php in FireFox. It doesnt matter what machine, what browser, or what connection I am on (tried home DSL and mega-fast university connection). This also happens whenever I try to do anything that takes a lot of queries like building a search index or sending newsletters (thank goodness for ISP's authenticated SMTP). I don;t know what I should do or ask my host (GoDaddy) to do regarding this. This has only happened starting in the last couple of months.

What you have to do is to install manually.
The time for the TP script to install is to loong for the server settings you are on.

Manual install is the way to go.

I will probably end up doing a manual install, but I found a new development. It seems that the number of queries per php script. Godaddy, on their economy hosting package on shared server, limits to 50 queries per php script. The TP install script has around 100. That is why it is dying. I really don't want to have to keep dealing with this. Godaddy has been great for me for the last two years, but looks like things have changed. I will probably stay with them until November when my hosting contract is up, then move somewhere else.

Go daddys free server hosting have more issues then that, you have the advertising part from them to, and many members cant even install SMF to a free go daddy host.
Ihave made it though. but i had to create a sub folder under the www dir and install vereything there, and then it worked. Butunder the www directly did not.

Dont know the paied section of godaddy, but you should be able to contat them and ask the to change the linits for you if you are a paid customer.

I am already a paid customer. And they said they can't do anything unless I upgrade to a virtual dedicated server. So, maybe I will be moving somewhere else when my hosting expires in November.

Can i point you to tinyportalhosting.com   It's not running quite yet, but by the time of November things should be up and live :)

Thank you for the tip. I will definitely consider it.

You will have a VERY extended support 24/7 on everything regarding SMF and TP with that hosting service :)
