Module Suggestion: Media Center

Hey all, let me first say: New server and new layout =

I want to suggest a Mediacenter as a new module for TP

One of the gurus over at smf is developing this mod: Mediacenter

It fetches attached media files from all forum or from selected topics.. Music, image and movie files.

only thing i see missing is the ability to fetch all attached media from all topics within a single board.. but maybe he will get that sorted because i posted in the thread and asked him if it was possible. and also a way to limit the ammount of attachments.. say maybe you only want it to grab the first one or two attachments from each topic.

Anyway i think this would be a very good thing to make a module based upon !
Many forum has a board full of movies.. and a board full of musics.. and another board full of images.. These forums could very much use a module like this to present their stuff in a proffessional way... let me know what you fine gentlemen think about this suggestion.

I would provide an example of what this mod looks like in action (in its current state!) but my forum only contains explicit adult material that i dont want to link to here.

While I think that its not a bad idea, I would prefer to leave this up to a mod such as the one you posted. It works with TP installed as I tested that mod before it was released. I wouldn't have any objections if someone wanted to write such a module though.

I agree that the mod works fine.. i would just love it if it had more features like the ones i metioned.. and maybe an admin interface

id love to see a mod like a video/media portal thingie for smf or tp

u know u upload a video/audio/flash and it gets displayed - like u tube - now that would be the bomb!

This mod has been upgraded to beta 2 and it can now show attachments from all topics within one or more selected boards  very nice

Found this thread and I have a request on similar lines. Is there any way that it instead of using files from the forum can it use files from the downloads manager?

We have just started getting bands and artists uploading tracks to the download manager, so members can grab them to listen to. Would be so much nicer for them to be able to listen to the track and only download those that they like.

Or is there any way to link a media player to use the tracks stored in the downloads manager?

Sorry but we're new to all this and learning as we go. I have searched the forum for hours trying to find an answer but haven't been able to.

The Download manager could certainly be adjusted to actually play the files, or show the image files it has. It will need adding a set of dedicated players though, to be useful. mp3, avi, quicktime, flash etc. are all thinsg that need to be possibly shown.

Not promising anything, but looking into adding this to dl manager.

Big thanx. I know that you and all the Tiny Portal team don't always have a lot of free time. So I apreachate you saying you'll look into it, as this would help so much with what we would like the site to achieve, and i'm sure all the members especally the bands and artists would be as grateful as we would be, if it is possible.
