Where should I set $user_info['query_see_board'] to filter Recent block topics?

Where should I modify $user_info['query_see_board'] in order for the Recent block to display recent topics only from those boards I specify in $user_info['query_see_board']?

I have used the same method in SMF's Recent.php etc. with success. For TP's Recent block, I set $user_info['query_see_board'] in TPortalBlocks.template.php, just before the call to ssi_recentTopics(), but it's not working there. So, where should I set it?
