I've installed TP a bunch of times now and thought I was getting quite familiar with it. Guess not.

Today I was moving a forum to a new server. Installed SMF 1.1.2 (also tried with just 1.1.0) seems fine.

Install TP with package manager...no probs. But where is my portal? I go into the admin section to sort out the blocks and frontpage but I dont have the Tiny Portal admin block appearing. Bizzare.

Ok, uninstalled, deleted the db and went from scratch again. This time doing the manual install for TP. Again no problems but no frontpage blocks either and still no TP admin block. Has it changed in the versions or am I being a dumb ass.

Screen shot attached. The second pic is from another TP on the same server and I've highlighted what I seem to be missing.

ok after seeing someone else with the same probs the advice was

"Language files, if you have your forum running on utf-8 language, you need to fetch the english utf-8 language package for tp from the download section."

I can see everything EXCEPT the English utf-8 language pack.
Can someone point me to the right language pack please?

(current install is using 0.9.8 but I can revert back to 0.97 if needed)

Judging by your first screen shot it doesn't appear that TP is even installed right. You don't have the TinyPortal in your admin, nor do you have a forum button. I would suggest you resinstall or try the manual install.

IchBin, i stumbled over that to on one forum, and it was only the language files that didnt add up.
The utf-8 package did fix it.

I cant say this is the case here though.

The link to the utf-8 package is for TP V.097 and not 98 but you can just update the package with the few strings your self.

I had the same problem when installing SMF and TP from the clean install.  I found that when installing TP it did not install the  UTF-8 English pack when installing through the package manager or Manual install.  (It seems that the UTF-8 English files are not supplied in the TP V.0983 zip files only the standard English files.)  It installs TP but no text shows up in the Tinyportal admit panel or any of the blocks for Tinyportal. This only happens if you have your default language set to UTF-8 English.

Switching the default language to English in the Admin>server settings>default forum langauge  settings this will correct this problem.

I uploaded the utf-8 package files for TP V.097 to my  default theme language directory ant this fixed the problem for the UTF-8 English
pack not being installed.  I was then able to set my UTF-8 English as my default language.
