Hi everybody,
I want to transfer my TP with SMF forum community site from one host to another host. My previous host gives me a shared hosting serice while with new host I have a reseller account and WHM/Cpanel.

My SMF and TP is installed in public_html. Here is the snapshot of my ftp of the site.

Kindly help me what folders and file I should transfer.
Best regards,
Jim

Everything in your forum folder, and a backup of your database is all you need for SMF and TP.

funxlab

IchBin,
Thank you. I have my forum and TP in public_http. So I dont need other folders like Public_ftp, .cpaddons, .htaccess, etc which are not inside public_http ?
Regards,
Jim

no you don't. Just make sure to get a backup of your database. That is the one thing that CAN'T be replaced. You can do a backup from the admin panel in maintenance, and also another with phpMyAdmin or some other tool that you're host should have.

public_html should contain ur forum files..but u dont need those unless u are using special customized themes (in which case u should download those)

Also you will need these folders from your forum folder:

-smileys
-avatars
-attachments

The rest u can just get when u reinstall SMF on ur new host from the SMF package itself.

Apart from this the most important thing as ich mentioned is taking a full database backup.

Aku ,
Thanks for your reply. U made me more confused :( ......lol...kidding bro.
you mean to say I will have to re-install SMF ?
Best regards,
Jim

If you copy all your files under public_html from one site to the next & back-up your database/move it...you won't have to reinstall SMF & worse yet...mods/themes/avatars/smilies/etc.

You will have to edit settings.php from the old server/database info to the new.  To do that you may have to start with the original one from the core package & re-do "http://domainname.com/install.php".  But only to fill in the new info therefore filling in your new settings.php file.  It should also then connect with your database.  Once you've connected with/set up your database you can take the back-up of your old database info & import it.  Then all your old members & their posts should be there. :)

And run Repairsettings.php just to make sure everything is a-okay when you're done.
