My forum version is SMF 1.0.10. I was wondering if the Tiny Portal can be installed with this version of SMF. Can anyone tell me please if that''s possible? Thank you

Nokonium

Could you check your SMF version, the one you state doesn't exist.

If you mean 1.1.1, there isn't a released TP version to work with SMF 1.1.1 yet, if you try to install TP 0.97 you will get an error unless you use one of the workarounds posted.

This is probably the best thread to look at:

Thanx for your quick reply. My forum version is 1.0.10. Or at least so it says at the bottom of the page: Powered by SMF 1.0.10.

Can I install an older version of Tiny Portal that is compatible with my forum version? I have heard a lot about TP and I am very curious to try it out.

You can have a look at my forum

I don"t know if it''s allowed to post the link for another website here, but if I am breaking the rules, then I apologise to the staff and they can remove the link.

Actually 1.0.10 does exist. Its just that its not really made as a big announcement because of SMF 1.1 being a final stable version. If TP 0.9.7 doesn't install on it, I would suggest you wait for the updated TP version that Bloc is working on.

IchBin

Most of all I would suggest you upgrade to SMF 1.1 if at all possible though. :)

no problem with posting of links for support at all  so no worries

Your forum is still young I can see - so I would highly recommend that you upgrade to the latest stable release of SMF 1.1.1 since its a LOT better than the version you are using.

the 1.0 series is over a year old
the 1.1.1 series only started a month back after a year of testing so its the best stable release by far.

If u want to upgrade just check on simplemachines.org for info on upgrade or u can always ask us if u want

I''ve been trying for entire days to upgrade to the final version, but I just couldn''t do it. I have to admit that I ain''t very handy with this stuff, I am totally new at this. I tried to install the TP, versions 086 and 097. I got a message that they were installed sucessfully, but when I tried to apply mod, I got another message that said: This package that u r trying to download is corrupted or not compatible with this version.

Is this updated TP version that Bloc is working on compatible with the version of SMF 1.0.10?

IchBin

Yes it will be compatible with SMF 1.0.10 and SMF 1.1

If you'd like some help upgrading your site to SMF 1.1 I can help you with that.

If you download the large upgrade, and then upload all the files and replace your existing ones when it asks. Then after all the files are uploaded you point your browser to the www.yourdomain.com/upgrade.php that will automatically do the upgrade for you. You may need to change permissions on files if it asks you to.
Here's a post that will show you about chmod for permissions. This is only if your host is running a linux server.
