Password protect downloads

I haven't seen it in paFileDB but I can't be stuffed registering there so why not make it so that you can password-protect some downloads.

Or have it as a mod.

Because I am making a series of Jumper sectors that require a password to get to the next part.

If this isn't added as either a mod or feature, does anyone know of a download database like paFileDB with password protect features?

Why not just add the permissions to groups. Those that don't have permission don't get to download.

Look -

Guest downloads first part.
They play it and get the password.
They go to my site and click download second part, which prompts them for a password (in this case, the one they were given in the first part)
etc...

Is something like this possible?

I would say that a mod to do something like that is a better chanse at this time.
Bloc always work on improvements, but as a soul dev for TP it will probably be a long time if it were to be some thing builded in to the TP.
So if some one is up for the task on building some sort of password protect for the download section, i think thats the fastest and best way to go right now.

Are they downloading compressed files?  (Zip, Arj, Rar, etc)

If so, you could make the compressed file a password protected file based on the password you are giving in your first one, and each subsequent based on the next... etc.

How about the SMF mod password protect boards

I know its not an optimal solution but at least you get a password protection.. check it out

Password protection for downloads is a feature I suspect not many will use.

Why not simply password protect the second part/zip file and add the pass into the first part?
