I was wondering if it was possiable to apply a overriding theme to the frontpage? I think that would be a useful feature.

Yes, I saw that on the board today. Thats not a bad idea. I also like Blocs idea of setting an Article on the front page and over-riding the theme settings just for that article. Very cool...

But that' s already available in 0.9.5.Ã,  ;)

Single page in frontpage settings, a featured article and Use only this theme: [what theme you want to have] in article' s options.

Ya, with an article and overiding theme is already possiable.

However I'm still speaking of frontpage. I offered a suggestion of having a frontpage with its' own panels & blocks. If you TP had this, "with an overriding theme", it would really show off the TP/SMF engine.

Although, even if Bloc doesn't turn frontpage into a panels page, I'm still suggesting adding a option for a overriding theme.

Quotefrontpage with its' own panels & blocks

I seee now. That could be a part of a larger plan. Bloc has posted in the past about a future possibility of "custom pages" with its' own panels & blocks, maybe with different templates.

At the moment the custom page idea is in the future..but I think an option for it would be to either render frontpage as now(single page/forum posts/mix/front panel) or as a freeform page, where you assemble all the other bits. Then a theme override would be good.

But even in frontpage as it works now it would come in handy.

Hi Bloc,

Before you started using the Definition Theme you had a default theme on the frontpage, and the forum themes could still be set by the user.  Out of curiousity, how did you do that?

Edit:  For that matter, how did you create the current FrontPage?  Is it a single article or is it a freeform page?

Single page and a free form article

And since "single page" shows just one article, the theme stays the same. Settable in the article's visual options.

The content is simply html and 2 ssi functions in a php article. The same could be done in frontblocks though, but frontblocks can't have its own theme set  or positioned side by side - yet. Another route is to be able to call blocks inside the article, which also will come later.
