okay so i'm changing websites.
i've already got my new site but dns's haven't propagated yet, so i'm uploading files, etc now. i've got the full backup of my old forum, and just downloaded sql tables.

i know the sql databases have different names, namely the last one was yyy_forum
the new one is xxx_forum. will i have to do anything aside from simple backup tables from the old, and upload tables from the new and it will work and i just change some settings in smf?

thanks, any help i can get is greatly appreciated.

As long as you restore your database throught SMF or PHPMyAdmin or something you should have to worry about anything except for telling SMF what database to look at. :)

Moocat

okay well now the problem is i can't get the database to restore. i don't know what settings to use on export, and every time i try and do the import, i get page cannot be displayed in phpmyadmin :\

How big is your Database backup? You may need to use the tool that [unknown] made for uploading databases that are large.

50mb. i finally got it uploaded by deleting all my error log entries, which reduced it to 2mb. so i had 48mb of errors in my log... owwwww

IchBin

wow....lol.
Glad you got it working. Let us know how it goes if everything works out.
