I'm creating a site at http://talktidy.com/community using SMF 2.0.1 and TP RC2 on the default theme.

The new site is a development of an older (still existing) dictionary type site on the main domain

For the front page I'd like to create a block that will act as a menu to the dictionary pages. The content of the block would have the letters of the alphabet in it such that clicking on a letter takes you to the article, i.e. the dictionary page for that letter.

The result would be that the TP side bars would be visible at all times, as would the SMF menu system, but *below* the SMF menu would be the 'menu' block... and below *that* a 'Welcome' splash page that would change to the dictionary page for a letter once that letter has been clicked.

I have a clear idea of what I want to achieve, but I have no idea how to set about doing it.  ;D

If anyone would like to offer suggestions about the best way to move forwards... I'd be pleased to accept them.

I think the easiest way would be to make your welcome message a block, use a bbc block and set it to show on the front page only. The write the articles for each letter. Create a bbc block on the side for the menu. Get the url of each letter-article and  and add your links to the menu block.
