SMF 2 Text Strings

General plee for help...

Does anyone know where there is a list of text strings used in SMF 2 please ?

I'm trying to use $txt['welcome_guest'] but it's not working as expected.

I get :

Welcome, %1$s. Please login or register.

There's a list of them in each of the language files.

That string is in the index.english.php file for me.

You using utf8 or anything else?

Nah just 'normal'....don't worry I did it without using txt strings in the end.

A young guy by the name of Huw used to maintain a script on his site where you could easily look at the text strings for all the versions of SMF but he no longer maintains it, unfortunately. I still have the link bookmarked but it no longer works.  It was very handy and I used it quite often.  At one time, I thought that I would try to get hold of the script so that I could maintain it myself but I never asked him for it.  I don't even know if he is still around.

Shouldn't be to hard to read in the strings from all those files. How did he display it? I might be able to write something up to do this.

He had at least 1 dropdown, but I think there might have been 2, one for the version of SMF and the other one to select the file the strings were in.  Once you selected the version and the file (I think), it just showed all the strings.  What was nice is that you could open a search in your browser (find) and go right to the correct string.  You can't tell anything from the link anymore about what it looked like but the link I had bookmarked is here --> http://huw.org.uk/smfstrings/?version=2.0RC1&language=english&filterfile=index.english.php

I've never talked to him except to maybe ask him a support question or something.  You or Bloc may know him better than I do, obviously.  Even though he isn't doing anything anymore on SMF he still is on there quite often.  In fact, I just checked and he was logged in today.  You might be able to get him to give up the script.
