Hello all,

Yes, I have looked at this most likely related thread, stickied at the top of this subforum:
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=16355.0

This is a brand new installation of SMF 1.1.11 and TP 1.0 Beta 4, and the screenshot from Zetan in the thread above is exactly what I'm getting.

1. I have tried installing SMF with both Installatron (similar to Fantastico as mentioned in the thread above) and manually (I have tried both several times already now).
2. I am not able to apply the solution in the above thread because I always found that the Language is already set on 'English', and there are no other options.

I'm out of ideas now so if someone could please let me know what I should try next I would be really grateful. Thanks!

ISO or UTF8 ?

If you run the forum on UTF8 the TP strings will not show unless you use UTF8 strings for TP aswell. UTF8 is not standard with TP so you have to download and install it manually

Frankly, I have no idea :(

The thread I linked above seems to imply that if I install SMF manually by downloading the file directly from simplemachines.org I should not be having this problem. But this is not the case. The 'Default Forum Language' is set to 'English', no indication of whether it's UTF-8 or ISO and there are no other options.

My question would then be:
How can I tell which type I have? And if it is somehow set to UTF-8, how do I change it to ISO without the option available in the SMF admin panel?

What happens if you hit your admin using this link?

index.php?action=admin;language=english

cronos

Nothing. It's identical with if I just hit the admin button (i.e. the same url but without the 'language' part).

edit: To clarify, yes it does go to the admin page and everything is working normally except the TP texts not showing.

IchBin

Can you check the languages folder in Themes/default/language/ and make sure there is a TPortalAdmin.english.php and a TPortal.english.php file? There should be other TP language files, I just think these are the ones needed for admin.

That fixed it IchBinâ„¢!   :o

None of the TPxxx files are copied to the /language folder, so I ftp'd them all manually and all the texts show up!

I also noticed afterward that all the tiny images (expand/collapse images, arrows, etc) are also not showing up, so I checked their location and sure enough the /tinyportal directory does not exist in /Themes/default/images. So again I copied them all manually and everything looks perfect now.

It seems that something is messed up with my TP installation. Not sure what exactly as the installation process went smoothly without any errors.

Anyway, just to say thank you again to IchBinâ„¢ and also G6 for the help. This is the first time I have the need to ask for help here but as you can see from my registration date (2006) I have been a TP user for almost four years now and a big fan of TP (currently own/help maintain three SMF forums with TP on them and now planning to start the fourth). Thanks for all you do! :)

Yeah, some times server configurations don't allow, or have a problem with the permission of moving files. It'd be a good idea to upload all the files from a TP package that are located in the Sources and Themes/default directory. Glad you got it working!
