So I'm seeing two different things described here.

1. You want the option to have RSS feeds of articles.
2. You want more options to dispaly RSS feeds.

Two very different things, and most likely completely unrelated issues. On one hand, I can write a fairly simple php script to create an RSS feed. I'm no pro, but I get the basic idea. The problems I've run into while just looking at the content of articles in the database is that articles have content in them such as links to pictures and stuff. Lets say you limit the output of the body of your article item. What if the image code gets cut off? There are a lot of things to think about that quite frankly, I don't know what to do with them lol.

There are also questions like, should the rss item from the article use the intro field (if you use it in your article) instead of the body? Just some thoughts while I work this out in my head. I also don't know how RSS pages are created dynamically just yet. If I see Bloc come around I'll hit him up for some questions. In the mean time I'm all over google.

IMHO the rss should come from the Intro field

Falconer, the idea behind an RSS feed to for others to be able to share news and feeds of your content. What you describe here doesn't need to be done with RSS feeds. You can simple write a block code snippet to grab the info and display it the way you want.

QuoteSo can that be done? Can we have a front end that we do our articles in that generates the rss and then we make a scaleable block that has the feed sent to it? The functionality is already there right now we just need to rework it to make it flow into an RSS feed and then make that feed the front block. I would however like to keep the icons or even set the icons for the different catagories and then the block parses out the icons and displays them next to the front block.

What I'm working on is a script that will grab the articles and display in an RSS format based on category and limit. For instance, you can hit this page http://www.yoursite.com/tp_articles.php?cat=2;limit=10

This would show you the last 10 articles from the Category ID 2. I'm not sure how this will work out, but I'm listening for features at the moment to see what people want.

No I really want to share it out

But I thought that the rss feed from the site could then be put into an RSS block. Kind of killing 2 birds. The thing were not doing atm is having it shared out because of a lack of the RSS feed option. IMHO that is the most important thing to create an RSS feed from all article categories.

A feed is indeed needed, and it have to be possible to fetch both single category, all categories and based on some sorting crieterna, like most recent or most popular.

For the path i would think its easiest to simply have index.php?page=mypage;rss?

I don't want my articles/categories to automatically go into the rss feed. If possible I would like to see a checkbox on the "edit article" page that allows me to "include in RSS feed".

Perhaps the same in the settings for a category level too. Some users might like that too.

I use articles for things other than articles (advertisements for example) and not all my articles are worth RSSing. Sometimes I just throw up a video with nothing else.

Allowing me the control to add individual articles into the feed via the edit page is probably ideal.
