Forum Post on Homepage

Hi guys,

I have been trying to put some sort of block on the front page with posts from the forum trimmed to maybe 300 characters or such length. One thing i've noticed is that its only possible without the frontpanel enabled...well, i love my front panel It basically has loads of info so I'm looking for some code to make my wish come true.

I would like to place a block right in the middle of the home page with a few posts [could be an adjustable variable] and it would be nice if it has the options of Commenting/Replying to the posts. [would save member's time]
