Also make sure smilies are in both the default as well as the classic set, if they aren't if a member is using classic smilies and that smile is only in the default set then it will not show up for the users using classic.Ã,  I solved that problem by doing away with one set of smilies, I got real tied of setting them one by one.Ã,

Edit, from above means that the smilies is not loaded and all you have is the name and not the image, the newer version SMF1.1rc2 allows you to upload from the forum admin section but it is one at a time.  I preferred uploading from my file transfer program in large batches.  But I admit I have not tried it with the newest SMF.

I hope I haven't confuse you or made matters worst if this is not what you want.

well now we got the NORMAL smileys fixed, but if we add new ones, it does the same to that, well i can't put those in myself cause im not the root admin and dunno much about html and it sais the smiley set is not writable.

odd, I don't claim to be an expert, but I have configured the smillies often, what version of SMF are you using?
In rc2, as far as I can tell you must upload one smiley at a time in the section, add smiley  and at the same you must type in the code for the smiley and set rather it should be displayed in   hidden   post from   or
pop-up

I tried to do batch uploads from my computer to my cPanel and although I see them there they aren't showing up in my smiley list in SMF. After a batch upload, when you go into your smiley options, where it says smiley sets, click it, and then choose modify, and a new window will open and in the little menu box you will see at uppermost line,  something like , new smilies needs to be imported, do you want to import now, click yes and it will place all uploaded into your smiley list, click edit to place where you want because they will all be place in one section.
