Link to my site: http://www.killersofevony.com
SMF version: 1.1.9 new install
TP version: beta 4 currently running beta 2 on 3 other forums
Theme name and version: Core
Browser Name and Version: IE8 but have FF to
Mods installed: None
Related Error messages: Hacking error

I have read the related threads and set permissions with no luck. I cannot do an admin install because it will not set persmissions through the admin. maybe i should just try beta 2? Would it make a difference?

anyoldcard,

First off, you should go with TP 1.0 beta 4 as betas 3 and 2 have more bugs in them then you need to try to do with.

Secondly, how are you trying to install TP?  Are you using the Package Manager in SMF to install TP?  If so, what, if any, error messages are you getting during the install?

I tried the package installer but my server will not allow it to set permissions. I tried setting them myself with no luck.

I am trying the manual install now but I get the "Hacking attempt..." So I'm sure it is a permissions thing.

I changed the permissions (CHMOD'ed) the following files to 777
    ./index.php
    ./Sources/Load.php
    ./Themes/default/index.template.php
    ./Themes/babylon/index.template.php
    ./Sources/Subs.php
    ./Sources/ManagePermissions.php
    ./Sources/Security.php
    ./Sources/Errors.php
    ./Themes/default/style.css
    ./Themes/default/Help.template.php
    ./Sources/Profile.php
    ./SSI.php
    ./Sources/BoardIndex.php
    ./Sources/QueryString.php
    ./Sources/Subs-Post.php
    ./Sources/Admin.php

anyoldcard,

If you can't CHMOD the permissions yourself, then you need to tell your host to CHOWN everything in your Forum Folder to you.  After that, you should be able to set the proper permissions and then try the install with the Package Manager.  If it still won't do the install that way, then you'll need to do the Manual Install --->  How do I manually install TinyPortal

Let us know what happens.
