Hello everybody,

I use SMF for several years and I want to add a portal to the forum. Before applying TP on my web site, I am testing on my PC the installation and configuration of TP.

I installed EasyPHP to install a fast development environment. The installation of SMF is ok and works without any problems. When I try to install TP, I have several problems (I made several trys) :

1/ When I apply the mod, after a valid testing, the installation made my apache server stop (omg!)
2/ When I apply the mod, after a valid testing, I wait a very long time for the redirection and I got the following message :

QuoteTinyPortal v1.0 beta 3 is now installed/updated.

The database changes have been done already but in this screen you can choose from a few more options available to you as part of the installation:
Available languages for TP v1.0 beta3 (note that all TP 1.0 versions are listed, but choose primary 1.0 beta3)

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Andraste\Bin\EasyPHP 3.0\www\Sources\Errors.php on line 348

Is this error is due to EasyPHP and my local installation ?
Or did I miss something ?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Most likely a settings issue in easyphp. If you don't know how to trouble shoot it, I would suggest you use another one like WAMP.

Thank you for your comments :)

I download and install wamp and it seems very interesting. I install a new version of SMF from scratch without any problem. Then I install TP : upload package, apply mod, test ok and then... same result.

I have the same error message, and when I clic on a link of TP in the admin section my apache server crash...

Some other informations : I use an HP PC with windows XP.
I'm very surprised and I don't know what is the problem with both PHP environments.

I use WAMP in XP and have no issues with it so far, installed just fine there.

Try downloading a new version of TP. Maybe your copy  is corrupt.

Another download, another test, another crash for apache...

I tested an installation with apache, php and mysql installed by myself separately. After testing and applying mod, seems to work fine except I don't see the TP logo after finishing the installation.

I test the installation by clicking on the TP links in the Admin panel and... my apache server crashed. I'm wery surprised that no body had any errors by installing TP 1 beta 3.

I am very disappointed.

Must be something in your local computer that causes it to crash, several of us here use the same things as you and it work for us, i even tested and upgraded my WAMP and it works just the same as before, no issues what so ever.

I read that Norton Internet security can cause the apache to crash and also kaspersky firewall, perhaps something to look into ? Google holds a lot of answers through a littl bit of search.

Try simply increasing the PHP execution time in php.ini. Since is your local it won't matter if you set it to 5 minutes(300sec).

Sometimes the PC runs a bit slow to fully do what apache asks, especially if you like me, run Photoshop, browsers, email etc.etc. :) Also, if EasyPHP supports it, set apache and mysql as services, runs smoother then.
