Change the permissions?
What exactly should I ask.
So far I can change all permissions for all directories & files, via ftp or CP.
Is it another kind of permissions, not related with safe mode?
FYR, PortaMx and SimplePortal are working fine on the same server!
What makes yours different?

superlalynx,

I have installed TP on "lots" of sites and others here have too.  Your comments about TP does not install on a fresh SMF install was a bit uncalled for since we know it installs just fine. In your particular situation it appears to not have done so. Comparing TP to other portals does not help the situation at all. We are trying to help you in your situation but if we are not there to do the install we have no idea what happened during the install.  I say TP did not install because I see no evidence of it on the main page of your forums.

I can suggest you uninstall TP.
Make sure you have used the options in the package manager and set the permissions on your site to the defaults. if you have used any of the other portals they may have changed the permissions on some of SMF's files.
Also when you installed TP the first time did it pass all of it's pre-test install test?
Then try installing again.

In your last post you ask whats make ours different is "it is the best".

From the outside, it is obvious that TP is not installed because I could never get to its admin panel: It does not show at all.

But, again, on the "browse packages" panel; it's shown as installed
, as well as in the "installed packages".

Absolutely everything went right at install, no error message, nothing.
Install was done on a new directory, made in a different domain but on the same server, new SMF, no mods, no languages, nothing. So no interference from any other mod or portal...
And I did the install with the package manager, whole procedure without any problem.
Because I could not uninstall TP from within SMF, I erased the whole directory and cleared the whole database.
Installed again SMF, ftp'd to 777 all files, and installed TP, without any problem, install confirmed like above... but no trace of TP in admin!
Quite frustrating, isn't it?

Renegd98

Yes very frustrating...  You should see a Tinyportal block on the left to do admin from. Is that missing?

Then you need to do a manual install.  Although the install from your point of view thru the package manager went fine it is obvious it did not.

Please do the following:  How do I manually install TinyPortal  ,-- Click here

And let us know what you get after the manual install.
