Since I was directed by G6 to create my own topic, here goes...

- I am currently using TP 1.0.6 beta2 ITA English and just upgraded to SMF 1.1.7.
- I am currently attempting to use several different themes all TP compatable and all saying they are designed to work with SMF 1.1.7 as well.
- I have searched the site over for any information simular and no success.  I attempted to post in a support thread called 1.1.7 and was told to post elsewhere.
- I have RE-READ the Post Guidelines in attempts to comply COMPLETELY with this website's rules.
- I have searched the web for any other simular issues with no success.

The issue:

When logging into my site as administrator everything goes well.  All buttons and icons / menu buttons show up properly.  When logging in as just a MEMBER the menu buttons disappear and I get an   "  x-home , x-forums  "  etc instead of images.  This only occurs when using "other than" default themes.  A long long time ago I read somewhere that some code needed to be changed on one of the style templates in order for TP to pull the images from the correct directory but I've been unable to determine where.

NOTE - I DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE UPGRADING TO THE SMF 1.1.7 package

Any assistance someone could give on this issue would be extremely appreciated.

(on a side note, just because a member's title says newbie doesn't neccessarly mean they are new, just that they haven't posted many posts.  I have been viewing this site for a while now and was always extremely reluctant to ask for help)

Thank you for following our guideline allthough you weem to have missed out on a few important parts we ask for...

1. link to your site
2. theme in use YOUR default ?
3. Do you have the same issues in default Core ?
4. Other mods installed ?
5. Where on this site have you read that all our themes we have works for 1.1.7 ?  ( even if i say now they probably would )

A link to the site would have given me most of the answers i just wrote up here...  ;)

How did you upgrade to 1.1.7, and from what version ?

IchBin

It is most likely a language issue. If you're using a UTF8 language, you'll need to have a utf8 images folder as well. If you right click on the missing images you'll notice that the language you use is in the path for menu items etc.

Thanks IchBin, your response gave me the info I needed to resolve the issue.

In response to G6's questions:
I apologize for not posting a link to my site because it's still under private development and confidentiality issues prevail.
I didn't identify a particular theme because the issue occurs on ALL CUSTOMIZED THEMES excluding the coreDEFAULT
As I previously explained, I did NOT have this issue with the coreDEFAULT but only when I attempted to use custom themes.
Each CUSTOM THEME stated it was compatible with TP 1.0.6 and compatible with SMF 1.1.7. (For example, custom theme "Extreme6")
I am only using SMF 1.1.7 and TP 1.06 mods/packages and a few miscellaneous custom themes.
On this website, if you click on browse themes, and select Extreme6 (it mentions that it's compatible with SMF 1.1.7 and also says it provides a TP version) maybe I have "assumed" that by stating both together implies that TP and SMF 1.1.7 were compatible, that's just one of the several themes I noted and which come to mind.
When logging into my website this morning using administrator priviledges I noted a SMF news message advising the need to upgrade to 1.1.7.
I upgraded to 1.1.7 using the update link provided in the administor's area and upgraded from 1.1.6 to 1.1.7

In case anyone else runs into the same issue of menu button icons disappearing after upgrading to SMF 1.1.7 and using a TP themeset... here's how to resolve the issue:

The way to resolve this issue is to right click the missing images and look to see what language the missing images are attempting to use.  In my case, the admin login system was using English and the Member login system was seeking to use English-UTF8.  I resolved my issue by creating an English-UTF8 folder in the theme I was using and then copying the image files from my English file into my newly created English-UTF8 folder.  Now when any member logs in, they have the same menu buttons as the administrator.  For some odd reason, TP 1.0.6  and SMF 1.1.7 calls images from two seperate locations depending on your login status.

Again, Thanks IchBin for giving me the answer to solve this delima.

Have you checked to ensure that somehow the upgrade did not change the default language from English to English-UTF8?

To check go to:   ADMIN --> SERVER SETTINGS ---> Default Forum Language.

If this has indeed changed then set it back to English and you should not need the new folder you created with the images.
