It is probably something I am doing wrong that is the root cause of this  :-[

I want a block like the 'Content', with a list of 'Categories'. I am trying to link an article to each Category or subcategory, like say a list of FAQ's, that will display in the center when selected. Although I have categories and articles they don't connect and display. What is the sequence and settings to do this please.

BTW as an aside, really like the Apollo_TP theme on here, but cannot find it to download :(  (and the Content subcategory icons are not showing).

I am going over the tp themes, some of them are not updated.

As for the article/category...here is how the menu manager works:

- create a new item in manu manager
- when you choose a article type, choose the article from the list just to the right of it. Same with a category(which will just display all articles in that category btw), the last one is just a regular link, you could use anything, even links to some article...

The point of having quick-lists to your categories or your articles, is to  avoid jumping back and forth when constructing the menu.

But there is a couple of flaws which i am looking at now for the next beta, 1) the "other" lists should be greyed out, when focus is on one type. Easier to get the right sublist and less confusing. 2) the edit function in menu amnager don't reflect if you change the type from a article to a category for example.

I am curious if PhP can be run inside the article. And how hard it can be implemented.

Reason for this thought:

I want to create a form input and feed data to a table in the same page. I think PhP will certianly do better than using CGI.

um, the way articles are done now, its as html..if you escape to php inside one , it could break the "main" php flow - SMF itself. But I have been thinking about expanding with a settable "block" on top of articles/forum-news, either always shown or on specific pages.

That maybe could be an option for you.

As for implementing php-support...it could be done same way as blocks, since it no real difference between them, just more types for blocks. But it would have to be a pure php-page..and of course have the same "will it work?" as php in blocks. Simply because complex php scripts often need exclusive access, and don't like being inside another in certain conditions.

Its not something I want to pursue at the moment though...I do have plans for a module that will cater for custom "actions", making your own pages(through tpmod) that can(probably needs to be) pure php. It would have to abide to some rules...and I don't have it all worked out yet, but its def. something i want in.

Would really like to see that implemented.  I'd use as news or info regarding specific forums articles or other pages.
