I'm not sure if this post is actually in the right place, but since this is the area for building your own community, I guess I'll give it a shot here...

I'm currently looking to set up a blogging/forum site, and I'm trying to find the right software to get the job done. I was pointed to SMF for a number of various reason, and after looking over the features, I really like the simplicity of the tool and ease of use. I am very interested in using this as one of the major functional tools to my site, and the inclusion of things like TP make it that much easier for me, but I have one lingering question in the back of my mind, "What is the functionality between SMF and Wordpress?"

Is it possible to have SMF installed, running a portal and integrate a wordpress blog through the portal?

Thanks in advance for all the hep.

Ken.

Welcome to TinyPortal!

The short answer is yes.

The longer version is somewhat more complicated.  ;)

As for SMF/WP... you will find topics on SMF about bridges for sharing member bases but from what I see it can be a difficult thing to do so I've not even tried to use any of the available bridges.

If you want to see my WP pulled into my SMF/TP go to This Page.

You can take a look at our Showcase boards to see how various sites look with SMF/TP and if you follow the links in my sig you can find lots of info on how TP works. (me thinks it works great of course)

Use this new mod that has just come out:

This.

An awesome mod with great potential and it is very easy to integrate in to TP since it already uses SMF, and the mod author is thinking of doing some TP plugins for it.
