This is what works for me:

Paste the code I want to use into a text editor for safe-keeping.

Paste the code into the php article. Save it. Have problems.

Delete the code from the article.

Copy the code from the text editor.

Paste the code into the same article that I just deleted the code from.

Save the code.

Check it out. It should work.
