yeah i got it resolved and Dragoon, you were right it was the webhost not TP/SMF. I did some more digging on the 406 error and found that it could be caused by the Apache module mod_security.

I got in touch with the web host and sent the link to them and VOILA! its working....

Humble Pie for all at my webhost...serves them right for constantly suspecting the SMF/TP set up...they'll learn....lol

Anyway guys thnx for all the help, couldn't have found the answer without u guys telling me it definately wasn't a prob with TP.
