Recent posts total has changed!

I noticed today that there were 7 total posts in the "recent posts" area and it is set at 10. I set it at 11 to see what would happen and it stayed at 7. I set it at 3 and it went to 3. Has anyone had this problem and are there any troubleshooting tips. I searched but did not find relative results. maybe i need to change my search querry. Does anyone have any suggestions and thank you for taking time for any responses.

No, not here, definately one of my forums.

The area on the right side that displays most recent posts. The block is set to display 10 posts but instead displays 7. I lowered it to 3 and it will display 3 but will not go higher than 7. Weird huh?
