I just installed SMF 1.1.4 and TinyPortal 0.9.8 together.

Everything went without a hitch until I got to the point where you get the page that says your TinyPortal installation was successful and has a link to "Restart your Forum".  I think to myself, "GREAT"!

I clicked the link and the home page has little red x's down both of the sidebars.

I am new to SMF and TinyPortal both.  I have done a lot of reading and prepared myself as much as possible...  It erks me that I had to come and ask for help, lol.

What do you think happend?  What did I do wrong, and how can I fix it?

Thank you all ahead of time for you help!!  I am little stuck.   ;D

Chances are ur using an SMF theme only or your images did not upload all the way. Try switching your forum to default language of "English" and use the default core theme.

We have a posting guideline as well. A link in my signature so you can help us help you. Thanks

Thanks for your efforts guys, it is much appreciated.

lebisol - I viewed the guideline... ty for the nudge.  Irronically, I followed most of it without knowing. :)

To help things a little more I will include the format you created below:

Link to my site: http://www.gideonwebdesign.com/knightsofelendil (This is where I am working on it, familiarizing myself with it, and testing it.)
SMF version: 1.1.4
TP version: 0.9.8
Theme name and version: I am only using the default core theme at this time.
Mods installed: No mods until after I get SMF and TP to play nice.  ;)
Related Error messages: There are no actual error messages other than the red x you get when the source for a linked image is not found.  This is most noticable on the home page sidebars.  Other areas seem to be fine.

Thanks again!

Well gentlemen... I simply went in and reset the default theme for myself and reset it for all other users as well... everything looks fine now!

Dunno why this made much of a difference since I had it on default core theme anyway... Just glad that it seems to be working.

I will go ahead and start playing around with some different themes and tweaks...

Now, is it normal for the TinyPortal box over on the left side of the admin control panel screen to be empy without links?

QuoteNow, is it normal for the TinyPortal box over on the left side of the admin control panel screen to be empy without links?

Thus usually happens when the forum language is set for "English-UTF8"

Change the language to just "English" it should be in the dropdown for "Default Forum Language" in "Server Settings"

Thanks Hairy -

I just found the same information as fix that you posted, and was coming back to say that!

The only problem is that the default language is already set to English, and there is no other option at all.  English-UTF8 does not show up.

I tried to save it again and refresh anyway... but it was to no avail.  So, I still have my TinyPortal admin block showing no text.

Dragooon

FTP /Themes/default/languages folder and see if the 5 TP language files exits or not, there names should be identical.
There name should be like *name*.english.php(The all are prefixed with TP or TPortal).

Thanks Dragooon -

There were a few language files missing...  That fixed it.
