error in /Sources/TPortal.php or spammer ??

Hi all
I have a working tinyportal 0.9.8 on smf 1.1.4 all work fine but in the error log i have some of this error :

What is this ? is a spammer ?

It is an attempt to exploit the tpstart variable..but it won't work, only gives a error mesage.
