Well, that is a nice snippet, no doubt, and I could definitely see a use for it, but I swear, I am still at a loss as to how to figure out how to actually create a live RSS Feed of the contents of the shoutbox or even of that last Shout block described in that snippet.    :(

Admitedly, I am new at this sort of thing, and I definitely have a lot to learn, especially when it comes to php, but I must be missing something.   :buck2:

What don't you get about that code snippet? You put that code in a phpbox block in TinyPortal. It will then give you the latest shouts. Is that not what you're looking for? As for accessing this externally on another site, I don't think that would be possible ATM.

Is there a way to limit depth displayed in an RSS block?... from either local rss feeds or external?  For example I have a rss block for a feed from www.wowguru.com but the feed sucks in about 10 articles and thus the block is about twice as long as my entire front page.  Google's personalized home page seems to be able to limit the display of a rss feed to X articles, I'm assuming that it's done on their end not through sending some parameter to the rss feeder.

You can try to convert the feed and customize it a bit.

Look at this site here

woo that's interesting :)  Thank you.

[edit]Too bad the site doesn't work with Firefox.  The javascript produced says sorry your browser doesn't support javascript.I suppose that could be related to having turned a few javascript functions off via Firefox, but when I run a feed through that site in IE it produces the script and I copy it to my site and view it just fine from Firefox[/edit]

I think I get the code snippet.  I mean I think I get what it does and what people are using it for.  ;)

No, I don't think that is what I am looking for, at least not ATM.  :(

well, I think this is what I am looking for.  Actually, Firefox has a nice plugin that scrolls the RSS Feed of the most Recent Posts from the Forum site on a bar near the top.  What I am looking for is a way to add the contents of the Shoutbox, or maybe a limited number of Shouts, to the RSS Feed of the Recent Posts, which is already working.  This may be asking for too much.  If so, tell me, and I will forget it for now.  This was a request from several of my Forum Members.

Alrighty Then!!!! OK Guys now listen up!!! dang! I would like to have a feed in my yahoo 360 feed area, every time I put the rss link within that are it comes up with nothing, that is what I am trying to get too, like if you have a news feed in your front page, when someone opens that area or on the side of what subjects are being discussed and so on. The shout box isn't what I am trying to work, i tried everything that you said, but it still doesn't work, and everything is turned on, but can't put a rss feed in my 360? You might ask why do I want this in there? well because people who do view the blog, it gives them something to look at.
