Need java script and pearl scripts

So in order for me to feed info into some of my blocks they are telling me i need java script support for one of the blocks and pearl scripts for the other.

So what does this mean?

javascript is a programming language that browsers support. It can be client or server side code. All of the main stream browsers like IE, FF, and Opera support it to a limited extent. They should tell you whether it will not work in one of the browsers however. Perl is another programming language that is server side only (I think), and it requires your host to have it installed and enabled for your account.
