Need help to put an additionional line into Register (prepared to pay)

I need to put an extra line into the Register page to indicate who referred them to the forum. It doesn't look to be a big task, but the coding is currently way beyond me (I've spent ages trying to figure it).

If someone could help I am prepared to pay for the time. This will also be a big help to me to grasp a little of how to get (say) "referral_name" into the database, all the steps and procedures of which quite baffle me at this point!

Your best bet is to do a search on the SMF Community Forum for the term "referral". I know there are many topics about this.

Liek anunlike said search on SMf ull be able to find something...also I believe the SMF shop mod makers are trying to make something similar so that users who refer others can get 'shop points' for referring poeple...check them out as well

Setting up simple Referrals or Invitations is extremely easy with Referrals Module. You can read the posts and download this (free and supported) Mod at the author's site http://www.wonderforum.com/index.php?topic=12.0. Currently the file referrals.zip is in megamoose's sig.

It's easy to install via Package Manager, and simple to use. Records and shows (in your Profile) all the people you've invited/referred. Admins can also see all referrals of all members. I'm impressed!
