alter names of links in tree link

Is it possible for me to alter the names i see in the treelink

The PretenderSIM |  Forum  |  Simulations  |  Catch Me If You Can


The PretenderSIM is the name of the forum and takes you back to the primary TP page with the blocks and articles on... i would like that to say welcome page or smt similar, my members are confused with the changes.

Then I would like the Forum to say SIM instead, as that is the term they are used to. Then afer that are the board names, so it is just those first two i would like to change in the linktree if possible

Have poured through the language files and some templates, but cannot figure out if it can be done or how to do it.

any help appreciated.

In your server settings in you admin panel change the name of your forum to whatever you want it to say in your linktree.  I saw that you forum name is not displayed on the index so it should not affect anything else.

thanks so much for that, it is a big help for some of my members who are not coping with the addition of TP just yet. I have changed it to welcome, so that hopefully will help distinguish between where to go.

One member kept pressing it and got so frustrated because they couldnt find the boards and thought the forum had been hacked.. ohh dear

ps. still looking for a way to change the FORUM in the tree to SIM if possible

In Load.php search for:

Code Select Expand

$context['linktree'] = array(array('url' => $scripturl . '?action=forum', 'name' => 'Forum'));

Change the last part 'Forum' to 'SIM'

IchBin, you are a total legend... never thougth to look in load.php ... spent hours in the damn language files.. thanks so much, this is going to make a huge difference for the not so computer-savvy on my site.

Tick, i have gone in and changed the site name to Centre Lobby, so hopefully people will get that reference, i wasnt aware you could do that, so this has now worked out perfectly
