I have given you the suggestions 2 times now.
MANUALL installation through FTP
How to Manuall install of TP

eminent

hey G6,

Thanks for your suggestion, I guess my questions have been answered and evolved into some other things and this thread is getting quite long..

In summary: I have installed TP on the site manually when I made this thread, my problem was adding mods thru packages.. Mods such as Gallery lite.  Because TP didnt work either with package that was why I had to do the TP manual, but I cant figure out how to upload mods suchs as Gallery lite.

Also, Ive tried the application installer in my host which installed smf 1.0.9.. this is outdated, and in this version I CAN upload mods, but I CANT upgrade SMF..  In trial, I also used the TP 0.9.8. and it unpacked via Package apply MOD.    Now Ive realized maybe this is better than the other forum that I manually installed, because the functions seems to be working..

Now my next problem would be upgrading SMF 1.0.9 > SMF 1.1.3 manually because the package wouldnt make it work.  I guess this has moved out of topic and I should go to SMF forum to get further support on this since its now more of a SMF related.

BUT FOR TP related topic> Im getting this error when I go onto settings> News

2: fopen() [<a href='function.fopen'>function.fopen</a>]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration
File: /www/5gbfree.com/d/o/o/doomz/htdocs/eminentquality/Sources/TPortal.php
Line: 1607

Do you know what I need to do?

BTW.. G6, I saw your page, and I was wondering if you can help me out with the gallery mod?  can I pm you some questions?

G6Cad

That error is probably what the others said in this thread, it's a server settings that your host have activated and it's blocking the packages you are trying to use. zip, rar etc.

Thats why I said the manuall install is the only way for you to install mods to your site.
You can PM me with your questions just cause you asked first  ;)

That's why I told you to get the php info. How locked in to this host are you.. :o

Time for a change I think

 :2funny:

I guess pretty locked in? cause its a free host, and its kinda hard to find a free hosts that is actually up 99% of the time that supports php and mysql..  UNLESS>> you know of another FREE host, with no ads(well 1 banner is fine), and has good accessibility like you said..  ;)

superQ

not completely free $3.99 charge to qualify you by phone as not a criminal. full php4+ and  mysql support-- not crippled  and no ads or posting at all. only 1 database but 3 subdomains allowed. Try it while you still have the other one up just in case. Q like. Great for a test site anyway :D
