Hello again,

I cannot find an option for this, so I wonder if it is a bug or if it is intentional.  (or maybe I didn't look hard enough?)

When I set the layout for the front page, the same layout is displayed on the category pages.  Here are the examples:

Front page
Category
Category

All of the articles are toggled as "do not display on frontpage."

Any help?

G6Cad

What settings do you have for your frontpage ?

Articles ? and what layout, any featured articles ? Any frontpage blocks ?

itsacoaster

Allow guests to see newsboard - yes
Show only articles on frontpage
Frontblocks shown: normal
Visual Options turned on: Left blocks, right blocks
Layout "B"

No feature articles.
Any frontpage blocks I had in the past are turned off.

The problem is that I thought that the frontpage layout was used for only the frontpage, and that the category pages would display linearly.  What is supposed to happen?

IchBin

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're problem is with this. Could you explain what you're trying to do?

itsacoaster

Well, I thought that the frontpage layout would be different from the category pages.  I have the frontpage layout set to layout "B", with the top article and the two columns of articles below it.

Are all the category pages, then, supposed to have the same layout as the frontpage?  I would just like those pages to have one article under another.

Nifelhein

Basically you pick a layout for the frontpage (articles and so on, with one or two columns) and it is used to display all categories of articles as well, meaning you can have a less than interesting choice there, I agree with him, having the article categories use the same display setting as the frontpage is not the best thing, specially when you want to use the frontpage to work in a different way.

Ah, so it's something that is /supposed/ to happen.  Is this a new change?  I don't remember noticing it until the latest version of TP.

That begs the question: are there plans to give us more design options per category or for the frontpage only?

bloc

Yes, there is. Its will be part of a range of new options for article categories, all related to how the category is displayed.

Nifelhein

Thanks for making me even more anxious then Bloc. ;)

Excellent!  It seems like I find one of TP's few shortcomings, it's on the list to be improved.
