TP WILL NOT INSTALL NOR WILL IT UPLOAD

Forum version: SMF 1.1.2 -
Attempting to install TP_0983

I downloaded the zip file, but when i attempt to upload through Package Manager i recieve this error: Could not upload package, please check directory permissions!

I have .zip .rar .php and so forth as extensions.  I do not unsderstand this error.

I have attempted to manual install. It says it has installed and to "Restart Forums" which I click to restart but only seems to refresh the page and still nothing appears in my packages to install.

im very new to this, explain to me like a 5 yr old pls ... nohting under search that i found.

Well let me start off by saying I dont know why you couldn't find anything with search on this because it has been discussed many times.  When you did your manual install did you make all the edits to the files that was in the manual install docs.

upload package, please check directory permissions!

That is exactly the problem, you nned to change the permsions on the packages folder to 777 and then creat a temp folder inside that.
Then try again

i donmt know what all that means, is this an advanced user forum? because im hardly advanced ....  sry for the prob, i searched aftwards for the permission thing and found some, my apologies.

no, i dont know how to change permissions or what  CHme ie or w/e it is. ill research more. thnx anyway.

You should take a read in the Docs section at SMF as most of this is covered fairly well and you will learn a lot of stuff about the "advanced" side.
