What you need to do is click on the upload tab and create the title and category and description. Then click Do not upload anything, just create an empty item. Then upload the file you want to your TP downloads via FTP.Make sure to name it the same as the item you created. Then check submissions. You should see the item you uploaded. Then put in the category you made.I hope this helps.

I think the easiest way is to first

1. Create your category in the manager.

2. Upload your file through your ftp client.

3. Go to download manager in admin and click on the FTP tab

4. In the drop down under the file name pick the category you want the file assigned to and make sure is shows in the drop down.

5. Click the words "assign this" to the right of the filename.

6 A new window pops up where you can add extra info like description for the file, file size etc.

7. Click save

8. in the next window just review everything you entered and click submitt and you're done.
