download manager not reporting file-size correctly

hi all,

Forgive me if this is an issue that has been addressed...I tried the search engine here but I didn't recognise any mention of my problem. I'm working with SMF 1.1.2 and TinyPortal 0.9.8. My website is in progress at moonz.us. I'm trying to use the download manager to allow everyone who visits my website to download some of my older, and unfinished musical compositions. I was able to set up a category under the download manager for this, and when the download manager link in the menu on the frontpage of the website is clicked, the category name link comes up fine. But when that category link is then clicked to reveal what files are available for download there seems to be something going wrong.

First off, the page that appears when you click the category link displays the size of the file for download as "0 KB" no matter what the file-size really is. So I assume something is not working right with the file size recognition. And secondly, this page that comes up, entitled page1, just shows the descriptive info I've typed in about that particular download file, but does not display an actual download link, so I don't understand its purpose, unless it is just to show file size, which, unfortunately, is wrong. This page must be clicked through to get to a second page before you get to the actual download link, and on this second page the very same descriptive info that appears on the page before it appears yet again, this time along with a download link.

I probably have a setting wrong, or someting selected twice, but I have no clue.

If you go to my website, moonz.us, you can see for yourself what I'm talking about by clicking the download manager link on the left side of the page... :buck2:

TIA

The most commom error with just this kind of thing is permissions to the folder you store the files in.
If it doesent have the correct permission, the script or the DB cant read the content, and therefore show the file as "zerobyte"

What you can do is to try and change the permission to both the folder tp-downloads theough ftp or Cpanel, and then the same for the content inside.
The permissions should be 777 on both the folder and the content inside.

It might be that you have to redo the files in your download manager (upload them again) if they still show as 0byte files.

Thanks for the reply. I tried your suggestions but it still shows 0 KB file size.

Permissions were 755 on both the tp-downloads folder and the file/s, so I changed the permissions on them both to 777. This made no difference, so I deleted and then re-uploaded the file (I've only placed one file in the tp-downloads folder, so far) and changed the permission for it to 777 once again, and it still displays 0 KB.

As I stated in my first post, this is only part of the problem. The other part is that the discriptive info I've written up on the file for download shows up   twice in a row before you can actually get to the actual download link.
My question would be: is this just the way the download manager is supposed to work?...or do I have something set up wrong?

Thanks.

No, its not the way. Sounds like something is not right with the database tables. Try running manual_tp_isntall.php that will update the tables for you.

If that doesn't help, you will need to uninstall TP, and remove the tables I guess.

I have some files in my download area which also have 0kb file size. When I download the files they are 0kb's. I'm going to have a play with it, see if I can get mine to work. I've not been too worried about it as only several members have access to the the DL's and they now have the files.

Thanks Bloc.

If I have to redo it all it is no loss...I wasn't very far along, anyway.
