Sorry if this is not the best place to post this.....

I have been running an SMF forum for about 2 years, I have a pretty good idea of how to use it (but not so much on modding and coding).  I have had several problems when going through various updates, RC2, RC3, 1.0, 1.1.1 and currently 1.1.2. but managed to get through them all.

Now, I am looking to move forwards with TP but I have found, more by luck than judgement that TP 0.9.7.1 is not compatible with SMF 1.1.2  - I had to search around to find out the current status.  Looks like I will have to wait for TP 0.9.8

Can I propose that the bods at SMF / TP work together to provide a simple compatibility list or table for SMF and TP versions and post it somewhere easy to find.  I am certain this will assist many newcomers and other with older board software in understanding what they can and should not upgrade to.  It will probably also reduce a lot of dumb questions that all have the same answers.  Maybe it can be put into the FAQ section  .I realise that other mods for SMF may cause conflicts and there is nothing the SMF and TP teams can do to control that, but at least having a simple to read compatibility list for SMF / TP versions would help....A LOT!!

I just installed tp with smf1.1.2 on two of my forums and it worked fine. check out here  http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=13225.0

Tick,
Thanks but I was aware of this, sorry I didn't explain myself well.  I have actually already set up a test board that is working okay after doing some additional debugging.

I was thinking about new users being able to match up compatible file versions without having to resort to burrowing through the forums both here and at SMF.

That would be a good thing, but as SMF is one development and TP a modification to SMF with it's ove site and it's own developer, and in fact it's only one person that put the time to this project, it's going to be hart to maintain that request you have.
We have talked it over several times in the team board, but it always turn out that it's not enough time to keep the development and the support for tp at two sites at the same time  :-\
Especially on SMF thats so big in compare to tinyportal.

Bloc is working on both bug squashing the TP V.097* aswell as the TP V.098 that the team have installed and testing as we speak, and also the Alpha version of TP V.1.0.

So we want to keep things on this site to make it easier for us as team to keep track of things.

Also the easiest way to get the correct information is to go to the board installations, that should be the first place to look for how to get TP to your forums

Thank you for your thoughts and inputs though :)

It would probably be a good idea to make an update available in the download section in the future though. My intention was that I thought Bloc would already have 0.9.8 out, so I didn't think it was necessary. But as time does not allow sometimes, Bloc has been unable to spend as much time as he probably would like to for the next update. I certainly don't hold anything against a mans free time. So, in other words... Note Taken! :)

Yes, thats have been the problem so far..but as I am also a developer at SMF there isn't really no reason why TP and SMF can't be synced. :P But as IchBin says, I had underestimated available time for 0.9.8.

In the future we will at least try to update existing TP versions to SMF versions though, as Ichbin did with the fix for 0.9.7. to install on SMF 1.1.2.
