I've read some of the instructions on downloading tinyportal and how to use it, but before taking the plunge, I just wanted to make sure of where to install it.

I'm guessing that it should be installed in the same folder as my forum is?  And if so, after installation, does it automatically detect it?  I'm very new at setting up all of these extras on a forum and just don't want to screw things up with what I've got so far.

Thanks!

As TP is a MOD for your simplemachines (SMF) forum software, you install it as any other mod, through your package manager

I did use the package manager. However, I don't know which files or directories that I need to chmod 777. Will you kindly give some details?

Thank you.

Have you tried to let SMF manager help you with that ?  In the

Admin/Packages/Options/Cleanup Permissions/ Check the box with all writable, and then install TP, then go back to this and set it to "Only the standard files are writable."

This works MOST of the times, but if you are not the OWNER of the files, it will not work.
Then you have to install TP Manually, with the manual install package

I don't know how to set up vsftpd in my server and the option you mentioned bring me back to the ftp stuff again.

Thank you.
