>> all domains are fictitious
I need some help about moving my current setup.
Using the file manager in CPanel I can copy it to any location in my server space.
I have been testing my web site at www.testsite.com/myforum/
I have made a backup of the mysql database.

It is ready to go live and I have registered the domain I want, "goodtimes.com", which is different than "testsite.com" but resides on the same server and I can access/connect to the database I have been using. I want the URL to be www.goodtimes.com (one levelhigher up than it currently is).

My question: can I simply copy the current directories and files into www.goodtimes.com, then log in as admin and change the server settings? Before I do this I am sure some help from the more knowledgeable would be helpful as I have some months-of-time invested in all the mods and tweaks.

Regards,
marzi

You will need to run repair_settings.php in your root, which you can get from SMF, after the move, everything should be ok

Lesmond,
Thank you very much for taking the time to help me.
I had never heard of the file 'repair_settings.php'  but I found easily on the smf site under What is repair_settings.php? at http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=663.
I have installed  run it and all seems "A-OK."
